Here's something that I've wondered about: Tim and Tammy are married. Bob and Becky are married. Tim and Becky cheat on their spouses then marry each other, DF and eventually they are both reinstated. Neither Tammy or Bob ever remarry or date anyone else. What is the status of the two who cheated? Are they still considered adulterers?

Will Remarrying Lead to DFing?
by compound complex inthe wtb&ts states in this or that circumstance* the offended jw may separate or divorce but never remarry.
neither can the discarded mate remarry.. what could the local congregation do if they learned that either one of the above (faded, ex, whatever) remarries?.
*one's physical or spiritual life (usually that of the wife) is endangered; one (always the husband) refuses to provide for one's family, .... thanks,.

What do you think of todays youth?
by dawg inas many of you know, i live in a college town and therefore i'm around people much younger than me almost all day.
here's one thing i've noticed, the youth today have left the god of the bible behind.
they have been brought up in a world where information is available at a very rapid rate and have already figured out the biblical god is a fairy tale.

Here's the story of a poor young man who's congregation I used to go to. At 16-17 he and a girl in the cong. like eachother. They say will get married as soon as he graduates high school. This is a huge deal for the congregation. They are too young to be dating, marriage is serious, not for children, blah, blah, blah, blow the whole thing out of proportion. The girl can't take the pressure, breaks up with the boy and marries the very next guy that she sees. (Another happy marriage).
The boy has a series of short term relationships. (possibly due to the fact that he shows no signs of moving out of his parents basement or getting a real job) Then against the odds a girl agrees to be engaged to him. She has very expensive tastes and eventually realizes that he cannot provide her with the things that she desires. Calls off the wedding.
Then he reconnects with a long lost love from his wee childhood. She moves the whole way across the country to be with him. He get's DF'd, marries the girl and tries getting reinstated. Then he starts showing up at the meetings without his new wife. She moved back across the country to be with her first husband that she NEVER DIVORCED! Elders feel bad for the boy and quickly reinstate.
After all this he gets engaged again and actually gets married for real! Last I heard, they recently bought a house - but still live in his parent's basement because they can't afford to make it liveable. He still doesn't have a real job.

Were You Ever Counseled Because Of What You Wore (or didn't)?
by minimus inafter reading the thread about what is acceptable to wear and not wear in a factory run by jehovah's witnesses, i wondered whether any here ever got counseled or in trouble because of their fashion sense or attire.

I wore Dr. Marten boots, denim skirts, multi-colored tights, socks with loafers, rarely ever wore pantyhose, had Billy Idol style hair - never got counceled for any of it. Occaisionaly an elder would try to say something in a kidding manner but I would just make fun of his outfit right back. Once though, my mom, sister and I got pulled into the back room and told that our skirts were too short. We all said to eachother - yeah, make them wear dresses, see how easy it is to find acceptable meeting clothes.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses a cult? (No Exit)
by sacolton inthere is simply no proper or honorable way to leave the cult.
period.
to leave is to fail, to die, to be defeated by evil.

Don't you love when someone finds a list of logical fallacies and their definitions but still doesn't know what the hell they are talking about.

JW youths - How did you spend your vacation and holidays?
by truthseeker inyou don't have to be a "young one" to answer this question!.
the society prides itself on the thousands of jw youth who open "a large door leading to activity" during the holidays and summer vacation.
we are led to believe that the youth have few interests of their own and spend the majority of their free time away from school (or college!

My favorite was in the summer all the parents would drop off thier teenagers at the KH and be off on their merry way. So proud of themselves for raising such spiritual kids who wanted to auxiliary pioneer. The kids contributed nothing, couldn't drive, had no calls, only talked to other teenagers and would whine when they were made to get out of the car and work territory. To the parents we pioneers were just unpaid baby sitters. The kids got out of thier household chores and got to spend all day with their friends.

Still think the Society is not running out of cash? ...
by sir82 in...then check this out!.
(of course the society has $billions in real estate, but many have speculated that they are low on cash for day-day operations).. unfortunately i don't have a working scanner, but here is a summary of & a few quotations from a boe letter dated march 1, 2008:.
"for an number of years, an arrangement has been available to congregations to place funds on deposit with the branch office.

The congregation that I went to had "funds on loan with the Society" as they would announce with the accounts report. I think around $5000. I didn't know what this meant nor, did I really care as the accounts report really wasn't much of a report. I was surprised when I did learn what it meant. My husband was account servant for a while and the PO told him - we gave the society money to invest and they keep the interest but, we can get the $5000 back if we need it. What kind of sence does that make. Just being a good little BOE I guess.

NEW TRACT CAMPAIGN PLANNED....
by sir82 in....for october 20 - november 16.. there is a new tract to be introduced, with the title "do you want to know the truth?".
it is not a "kingdom news" campaign - after the campaign, this tract will join the "regular rotation" of tracts to be used in the field misery.. it is designed to replace the "do you want to know more about the bible" tract - the goal is to use it to start "bible" studies.. the goal is to cover all of the congregation's territory in 4 weeks, similar to other campaigns in the past.
unlike other campaigns, though, the congregations can order as many as they would like - they are not limited to 50 per publisher.

Irrational numbers! That is why I hate math. Math is supposed to be locigal. "Numbers can't lie" I've been told. But they can be irrational? I learned that in 9th grade and said Aaah, Bullshit! and never turned back. How do you know which ones you can and cannot trust? I'm not trying to be funny. I will be patronizing my local diner on Friday for some Coconut Cream in a pastry shell.

Why can't US witnesses wish "good luck"?

i've searched this forum and i've searched the wt library, but i have not been able to find anything.

I just posted on another thread earlier today:
I would always yell at people for being 'offended' by some one saying good luck. Here is how my arguemnt went:
What is wrong with saying good luck?
Reply: We don't beleve in The God of Good Luck.
Isn't there a God of Wine, and a God of Love? Do you believe in wine and love and do you use those words? What is the difference between "time and unforseen occourance" and "luck". "Luck" isn't a god's name so the word is ok to use. Do you use the word "weird"? (Yes, what's wrong with that?) The word "weird" comes from the name "Wyrd", who was one of the three Fates - or a false god. So when you say, "Wow, that was really weird", you are attributing those events to a a false god. So if you're going to tell me not to use words, make sure that you know what the words actually mean.
Of course I said weird all the time and I didn't care if anybody else did either. I just wanted to show people that they didn't know what they wrere talking about.
